OSM2World is an open source tool which produces detailed 3D models from OpenStreetMap data. In some parts of the world, OSM has reached the necessary level of detail for rich 3D scenes, containing outdoor and indoor views of buildings, roads with lane details, urban infrastructure, and many other elements.

This talk introduces the capabilities of OSM2World, with a particular focus on features which were added recently. These include:

  • The new web frontend which lets you try out OSM2World without a local installation
  • Easy to use 3D tile generation and greatly improved glTF support
  • Additional backends such as GeoDesk and OSM JSON
  • The library interface which makes it easy for applications on the JVM or in the browser to integrate OSM2World’s capabilities.

We will also explore use cases of OSM2World in different domains. The session is intended to be suitable for visitors learning about OSM2World for the first time as well as those interested in staying up-to-date about new developments.
